2006 election's results were out, the hypocrisy of human beings were widely exposed by the television and our newspapers. Erm, no not the political party that harbours an indian man with an english name. Neither am i talking about that man, I am not in a position nor a psychologist to know what was he actually thinking when he forgets to submit a god knows what piece of document. Humans makes mistakes right?
What i am referring to is the media, seriously, what the hell are you journalists paid for? To de-characterise/defame a member of the opposition party on a minor issue and blow it up on the front pages and regard that as the main issue of elections for many days? Were you paid and instructed to do that or were you licking up to someone boots by doing so? While Singaporeans relies on you to inform them what are the major issues that will cause an impact in their life, relentlessly craving for information that will help them know what is going on and out of the election and what kind of decisions will be made for them to improve their lives. You journalists out there being one of us chosed to tell us stuffs that we have totally had enough of and has little cause for us to even care about.
-So much for the Singapore version of Democracy-
Yes, even as a teenager, I can easily tell your agenda and which political parties you guys are siding by your one sided articles. But i guess you guys are not to be blamed and you have to put food on your family. As prior to election, i went to one of the opposition party rallies, I was surprised by the turn outs as more than 30000 people were present when this particular political party is holding their rally at a very strong opponent ground. Ok whatever i'll just say it. It's the Worker's Party holding their rally at the Prime minister's home ground. 30000 people, did the newspaper show the crowd? No. This political party voiced out many general issues and asked many question that concerns us. Did the newspaper list out every questions and issues that this party brought upon to the ears of the tens of thousands of people there? No. Instead we were being shown the same old stories that doesn't even concern our lifes! At the end of the day the people whom weren't present at the rally let ignorance deceived them, they chosed to remain loyal to the people whom made their lives miserable. And for some of the people whom were present either did not had the balls to vote for the party they really wanted to vote for or simply failed to address the issues that really concerns the nations.
-Hope-
For once i was concerned. Even one of my relative who keeps complaining about the head government's policy and not caring for the poor said that they were afraid to vote for the oppositions. Well to be truthful it disgust me. I was wondering how many other thousands of other Singaporeans thinks the same. Its frustrating to think about it. I refer to the phrase from the movie V for Vendetta "The people should not be afraid of the government, the government should be afraid of the people" But it doesn't seems so for the majority of the Singaporeans. But as the result of the election showed on 6th of May, we saw a glimmer of hope, we know that the media and some dangling carrots can't brain wash some of us, we know there is some people out there fighting for a freedom of press, a freedom of thoughts and a freedom of expressions. We know in our heart that freedom is only possible when we give it to ourselves. It's 5 years prior to the next election, I thereby wanted to tell everyone of you especially those legible to vote in 5 years time. WE SHALL NOT BE BRAINWASHED EASILY, WE HAVE A CHOICE!!! POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
